Goin' For a Horsey Ride

We've been biking with Isaac to the Brooklyn Bridge Park lately. We lie about on the grass, look at the water and boats, and go on the super snazzy, glass enclosed Carousel.

He loves it all very much. He doesn't mind when we put on his dinosaur helmet to go bumpity bump on over there. He patiently and expectantly waits for the organ music to start and the horses to go up and down, and around and around.

So far the only thing he's gotten grumpy about is having to get off, so we can wait in line and go just one more time.

Rude Mechanical Orchestra Entertains the Very Young

Wow....

Isaac was very intrigued by the Rude Mechanical Orchestra performance at Fort Greene Park. He was a little scared at first and wanted to be picked up, but quickly moved on to wanting to dance.

The Orchestra was very energetic, and a little bit Balkan: really fun to listen to! I couldn't understand exactly what they were singing about, but I think part of it was against fracking, and for gay rights. All very positive messages, I just hoped that Isaac didn't understand the swear words well enough to repeat them.

He first said it sitting in his stroller with a big open smile and legs kicking. I was so darn happy that I clapped and whooped, inspiring him to say it about 5 more times.

This video is from a bit later, when I think he wanted to put on slippers more than to perform for my smarty-phone, but I couldn't resist, I wanted to hear it again, and again and again!

All about Momma

My mom gave me Mom A Celebration of mothers from Storycorps for mother's day. I haven't had the chance to read it yet, but Jeremy read the first story and said it made him cry. And he hardly ever cries!

I can't get it for my mom, since she got it for me, but you can! If you go to the bookstore and get it for your mom, she will think you very thoughtful and sweet, which is how I thought of my mom. It does feel a little bizarre to have my mom give me a Mother's Day present. And yes, I opened it early. I figured since I'm a mom now too, I don't have to follow rules!

My friend Lena took this photo of Eli, Isaac and me at Fort Green Park. I like it's 70s quality, and of course the different expressions on all our faces. I'm not sure if Lena set her camera on a vintage sort of setting, or if its just her natural born talent in capturing a moment.

One Social Baby

Isaac had been sitting on the examination table, with his round belly bare and his eyebrows furrowed, examining the pediatrician sitting at her desk across the room.
He made intense eye contact with the back of her head and said in a very deliberate and serious voice, "Hi Dot-tor."
And then, in a french accent, "Veezeet, Dot-tor!?"
"He's very social!" was the pediatrician's pronouncement.

Isaac is even more social at home, especially in the presence of new and nice people. Like my friend Morgan, who visited us yesterday and today. Isaac called her "Ongren" and liked her very much. He often wanted to visit "Ongren", sit on her and hold her hand.

Maisy Moves Into Our House

Maisy moved into our house one month ago when Omi was here and knitted her up. We think Lucy Cousins, the many books of Maisy author and illustrator and person to bring Maisy to life, would be very proud.

Maisy wore overalls when she first arrived but then soon changed into a poncho.
