Big Kid Swings

The big kid swings at Camel Park are awesome. The chains to the top bar are really long and make a lovely swinging arc.Isaac calls them "the big kid fwings" and sometimes forgets to hold on with two hands, but his concentration and contemplation elevate him to big kid too, at least for that little sweet fwinging while.

Summertime!

Isaac has finally participated in the time honored tradition of filling odd plastic cups with water from the sprinklers at the playground. He got nice and soaked that afternoon, and hasn't wanted to go near them since.

The Kid Has a Cold

"Take booger out of nose!" says Isaac.
"I wish I could!" says mommy.

I just put an atlas, a book on winged migration, and one more slender volume under his crib mattress to prop his head up a bit. I'm hoping that tonight won't be as bad as last night. Or maybe he'll just get extra smart from paranormal osmosis!

Mt. Rainier from the Airplane

I miss Mount Rainer. Being on it up close, or seeing it look like this while driving down I-5.
When I lived in Seattle it always made me feel proud, lucky (to catch a gilmpse), and awed.
Mount Rainier, you are majestic like nothing else.

Isaac meets Pig

This pig is named Sunny, and she is HUGE. This photo doesn't really do her justice because Isaac is so much closer than her to the camera. Sunny's body is as big as your average cow's body. I think she weighs something like 500lbs. She has a really slimy shiny snout and big floppity ears.

Allie, who showed us around and was very comfortable with Sunny, even scratching her friendly and slimy nose, said that they were very lucky to have such a good natured pig in their crew. She said some can be really ornery and that can be very scary.

I was mindboggled. I've never seen a pig that big!

It was a very Seattle day at the beach with a shovel, and a rake, and a bucket.

And lots of fish and chips afterward, of course!

The combo of sitting on grandude's lap, feeling the roar of the diesel engine, and watching the the bucket go up and down, brought Isaac as close to meditation as I have witnessed so far.

No smiling, no talking, just knitted eyebrows and pure focus.
